Artist Statement:

I have enjoyed photography since I was a child.  My body of work consists mostly of wildlife, floral, still life and macro photography. As an artist, I seek to capture the beauty in the mundane.  Nature photography never gets boring. I am truly inspired by nature because I love the unexpectedness. When I take photos of wildlife, I am capturing moments that will never be repeated.  I like to photograph my subjects in outdoor settings being natural and spontaneous.

However, during the winter months I prefer to shoot still life images in my studio. I enjoy transforming ordinary objects, such as a vintage camera or an old boot into pieces of art. I like having full control over lighting and mood. I’m all about simplicity in my images, which allows my composition, lighting, and colors to do the talking.

My latest exhibition entitled "My Big Beautiful Backyard" presents a series of images which explore the world around me. This collection of work tends to focus on everything I see, feel, and experience. My studio is my backyard which means I never have to travel far to find interesting subject matter. My goal is to reveal the magic that comes from seeing ordinary objects close up. I utilize my camera as a tool, specifically a microscope, in my attempt to observe my everyday surroundings that would otherwise go unnoticed. I have done my job as an artist if my photos bring a smile to your face and sunshine to your home.
